Jess Godwin is a New York City–based singer, songwriter, and multidisciplinary performer whose work moves between soulful music, theatrical storytelling, and inventive vocal performance.

A recipient of the $25,000 3Arts Award and a Space on Ryder Farm residency, she has been commissioned to create music for Audible and Paramount Theatre and has helped more than 50,000 students worldwide write their own music.

Her voice has been featured in 6 national television commercials, and her original music has been licensed internationally. As an actor, she has performed at theaters including Steppenwolf Theatre, the Getty Villa, Long Wharf Theatre, Porchlight Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Court Theatre, and Writers Theatre.

Her latest project, The Spirit Section, brings together eight singers, original choral arrangements, and personal storytelling to explore what it means to find your way back to yourself.

Godwin is also the inventor of a wearable electronic musical instrument, currently patent-pending and in beta testing. Designed to expand the possibilities of solo performance, the wireless instrument allows her to create layered musical arrangements while maintaining the freedom and immediacy of live performance.

Equally drawn to the sublime and a good bit, Godwin brings humor, theatricality, and unexpected tenderness to everything she creates.
